How do you make carrot cupcakes with a betty crocker cake mix box?
Q. I got a carrot cake mix box from Betty Crocker, but I am not that good at making cakes, so I decided to make cupcakes out of the "cake" mix. There's was no cupcake recipe on the box so I decided to ask here. All I need is how to make the mix into cupcakes because all the other times I tried cupcakes out of cake mix, it always came out wrong in some way.
Asked by Anne - Tue Jun 22 18:41:05 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Hi! Make the box mix like how the directions say so and then pour them into a greased or paper lined muffin tin. If the box mix is betty crocker, there should be some baking time instructions specifically made for cupcakes. The cupcakes however usually take 20-24 minutes to bake at the suggested oven time!

Looking for the sweet muffin recipe & french muffins from betty crocker red pie sears cookbook 1972?
Q. The two recipes are from the betty crocker red pie sears cookbook 1972. Sweet muffin recipe and French muffin recipe. I believe that was the name of the French muffin recipe, but can't remember. The sweet muffin recipe was a general recipe and you could add blueberries, etc. as desired. Thank you.

A. Yes I have, dont buy it, half the tips I tried kept getting clogged no matter how or what I tried. I just went back to the Tupperware decorating kit I have. Also it was a mess getting the icing in to the containers out of the containers to wash and so on. So when I cant use my Tupperware set" in the wash" I just use a piece of parchment as a deco bag with tips and it works great. Good luck but if you want more of an opinion check out Consumer reviews on the product

A. My favorite cook book! My mom had one when I was growing up. After i went out on my own I searched used book stores for years for one. Ended up finding one in an abandoned apartment in the complex I worked in. Enough about that, here is the recipe. 1 egg 1/2 cup milk 1/4 cup salad oil 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour 1/2 cup sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt Heat oven to 400 deg. Grease bottoms of 12 medium muffin cups (2-3/4 inches in diameter). Beat egg; stir in milk and oil. Mix in remaining ingredients just until flour is moistened. Batter should be lumpy. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from pan. Enjoy!

How do I make bread instead of muffins (Betty Crocker wild blueberry)?
Q. I want to make bread out of Betty Crocker's Wild Blueberry mix, but there aren't directions on the box. I know that usually you lower the temp (425 F for the muffins) and add time (20 min for the muffins), but I don't know how much. I know I've done it before, and I thought the directions were on the box, but this only tells you how to bake the muffins!

A. Mix it up as per directions, put into a loaf pan, and bake it at about 350 for - about 45 minutes, depending on how full the loaf pan is - keep checking it and test the middle with a knife or toothpick. When the toothpick comes out clean it is done.

Can I make red icing with Betty Crocker Gel Food Color?

A. You will not be able to make a true, rich red color with that. I suggest either calling a grocery store bakery and asking to buy some of the red butter cream they use to decorate their own cakes (they don't even color their own usually) or try the Wilton brand icing colors. It is a gel, but a much more concentrated gel. It will take a good amount but this type/brand is designed not to thin out the consistency of your icing. You can get it at Wal-Mart. It will not be in the grocery section, but in the craft section. It is near a bunch of stuff they have for wedding cakes and wedding things near the fabrics in the craft section. You would probably find more of a selection of colors at a craft type store if they carry it. I get mine at a… [cont.]

How can I make Betty Crocker vanilla frosting/icing?
Q. I love Betty Crocker vanilla icing, but I live in New Zealand and we don't have the tubs here. The only way I've ever tried it is in the small sachet that comes inside boxes of vanilla cake mix. It's sooo good and I HAVE to have more of it, so I was wondering if there was a recipe out there to mimic it.

A. I don't know how to make frosting that is particularly like Betty Crocker frosting, but I usually make my own frosting from scratch, both because it's cheaper and it doesn't have that odd, waxy flavor. You simply take about a half stick of butter, some powdered sugar (I think it's somewhere around a pound of it for a half stick), and a little bit of milk. While beating the butter, gradually add sugar until it gets too thick, then add a little milk, then more sugar, until it's the right consistency and tastes right. You can beat in a little vanilla at just about any point, but I usually add it when it's about right. It won't taste the same as any brand of store-bought frosting, but it's unquestionably good, and you can easily vary the… [cont.]

Where can I find Cheesy Chicken Bake by Betty Crocker?
Q. I use to eat Betty Crocker's Cheesy Chicken Bake all the time as a kid, but my mom and I haven't been able to find the kit in the markets in about a year. Is there any stores that still sell it, or anywhere online where we could order it? Thanks!
